1A Look At Acid Reflux In Babies

Some babies are born with a digestive system that is not fully formed. This means that the valve that connects the esophagus and the stomach is not working as it should. This may cause hydrochloric acid and sometimes bile to leave the stomach, finding its way into the esophagus.

Uncontrolled crying, dry cough, nausea and vomiting are some of the symptoms of Acid Reflux in Babies. Also feeding habits may cause this problem. Do you allow gas swallowed when feeding her to come out? Do you give your baby one large meal at a go? Do you let your baby to go to bed immediately after a meal? Does your baby sleep on its back?

If your answer is yes to all or some of these questions, then I bet you are on the road to finding the cure to your baby's problem. After feeding the baby, pat her on the upper back until she belches. A sign that gas swallowed when feeding has come out. Do give small meals more frequently to avoid or minimize chances of having Acid Reflux in Babies.

When sleeping, she should lie on the side in a slanting position to avoid a reflux. This sleeping position also prevents choking in case of fluid reflux. If the problem still persists during bedtime, try acid reflux pillows. They hold the body and head in a sideways slanting position throughout the night. They do come in different sizes and can also be adjusted in size as your baby grows.
